Career Information for Prospective MBA Students

The USF MBA Program was designed with today's changing corporate environment in mind.  The curriculum and experiences you encounter will help prepare you to succeed in the workplace, both now and in the future.  Companies value the cross-functional knowledge and diverse experiences that accompany a USF MBA degree.

One of the benefits of being located in a major metropolitan area is corporate partnerships. The USF College of Business has established relationships with a number of business leaders on the local and national level. We continuously work to establish and maintain partnerships with companies to encourage career-related connections with students.

One-on-One Career Coaching
An experienced counselor who specializes in MBA and graduate business employment will help you develop a personal brand strategy and fine-tune your resume, making sure it portrays your experiences and highlights the skills prospective employers seek. Our counselors focus on MBA career services, so they know what employers want. We have an email list exclusively for graduate business students that provides up-to-date job search resources and access to local networking events. We can also answer questions about what you can do with an MBA degree, based on your individual background. Contact Megan Hendricks for more information.

networking eventEmployer Networking Events
The College of Business hosts networking events twice per year exclusively for MBA and graduate business students and potential employers.The small nature of such events facilitates relationship building with employers. The USF Career Center also hosts a variety of on campus career fairs including: Career Networking Fair, Part-time Job Fair, Public Service Career Fair, Florida's Statewide Job Fair, Big East Career Fair and Big East E-Fair. Job Postings & Employer Resume Search
Graduate business students can access hundreds of internships and full-time job postings through USF's online job posting system, Career Connections. Employers will also have direct access to your resume through this system, if you chose that option.

Internships
We encourage MBA students to take advantage of internships and other real-world projects to apply what you have learned in the classroom to the workplace. We provide access to numerous internship postings and assist you iwth conduct a self-directed internship search with your target companies. National studies indicate that more than 60% of companies with MBA internship programs offer full-time positions to their interns before making them available to the public, making internships an important part of an effective job search strategy.

Company Information Sessions
We bring numerous companies to campus for information sessions during the fall and spring semesters. These one-hour events allow companies to present infomration to students about their corporate culture and hiring opportunities. They also provide students a chance to talk with company representatives one-on-one.

USF hosts a variety of companies for on-campus interviews each fall and spring.

Practice Interviews
The USF Career Center offers a Virtual Video Interview (VVI), which allows you to videotape yourself during a mock interview and receive a critique from a career specialist.

Professional Development Workshops
We offer a variety of workshops designed to help you develop and implement a successful job search strategy. Workshops are often presented by outside speakers or employers who can explain how everyday hiring decisions are made. Topics include networking, resume tips and interview skills.

Communication Through Technology
One of the best things about College-specific employer relations office is easy, targeted communication vehicles. With electronic job coaching, instant messaging, online workshops and chats, and our comprehensive career management web site, we provide an avenue to quickly find opportunities specific to graduate business students.
