Endowed Teaching and Service Professorships

Announcing the Dr. Robert M. Keith Endowed Teaching Professorship

Robert Keith, retiring director of the School of Accountancy, spent virtually his entire career – 38 years – as part of the University of South Florida.  To honor of his long and distinguished service, leadership, and dedication to the School of Accountancy, the Dr. Robert M. Keith Endowed Teaching Professorship was recently established, initially funded through the generosity of Mohamad Ali and Sawsan Hasbini.

The Keith Professorship will be used to recognize a “master teacher” who has made an outstanding contribution in the classroom and sustained research in accounting education and pedagogy.  Use of the funds in this way will continue to honor Keith’s emphasis on teaching excellence during his 14 years as head of the school.

Contributions to the fund may be sent to the School of Accountancy at 4202 E. Fowler Avenue, BSN 3403, Tampa, FL 33620-5500.  Please make checks payable to the USF Foundation: Keith Professorship.  For more information, contact Ann Ruble at aruble@coba.usf.edu.

Update: Dr. William L. Stephens Endowed Service Professorship

The School of Accountancy established the Dr. William L. Stephens Endowed Service Professorship to honor Stephens’ 35 years extraordinary service to the School and to Beta Alpha Psi.  The Professorship is intended to recognize the School’s continuing commitment to teaching, research, students, and community/professional engagement.  The Stephen’s Professor will be expected to serve as the faculty advisor to the Delta Gamma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, will be the primary faculty contact with the professional accounting organizations in the community, and will be expected to serve in a leadership role with appropriate professional organizations.

More than 125 alumni, friends, and firms have contributed to the fund, reaching 97% of the $300,000 goal set for the professorship.  Once this goal is reached, the State of Florida will contribute a $150,000 matching gift to endow the professorship at $450,000.

Contributions to the fund may be sent to the School of Accountancy at 4202 E. Fowler Avenue, BSN 3403, Tampa, FL 33620-5500.  Please make checks payable to the USF Foundation: Stephens Professorship.
