Fifth Third Bank Invests in
Financial Education
Brian Keenan, President and CEO of
Fifth Third Bank’s Tampa Bay market and a 1986 College of
Business alumnus, presented a $10,000 check to Dean Robert
Forsythe at the grand opening of the bank’s Carrollwood
Financial Center in September.
Keenan said the grant, which will
support curriculum development in the College’s Financial
Services Education Center, “elevates the quality of the
talent pool in the financial services industry in Tampa
Bay.” The Financial Services Education Center (FSEC) offers
top USF business students an experiential educational model
featuring special projects and live business cases based on
real world business situations, as well as internships and
mentoring opportunities with financial services companies.
Students participating in the program form an elite cohort
who will be highly marketable when they graduate. Initially,
the program’s emphasis is on private wealth management.
Fifth Third Bank, which entered the
Tampa market only two-and-a-half years ago, is expanding
rapidly, with the goal of having 41 banking centers on line
by the end of 2007. As the bank expands its reach, they will
look to USF’s College of Business to help address their
hiring needs.
