Big
University, Small Community |

Every room has been claimed in the inaugural Bulls Business
Community, one of the College of Business’ newest initiatives for
incoming freshmen declaring a business major. Nearly thirty
students will live in the College’s living-learning center where
business majors can begin developing as professionals from their
first moments on campus.

“We’re building a small community within a big university,”
said Dean Robert Forsythe, noting that the business school program
includes social and academic extras.
“It’s more than simply a place to sleep and study.”

Campus life
includes eating, sleeping, partying and studying, and Forsythe says
residents of the Bulls Business Community will enjoy these things,
plus a few
perks. These “perks” include learning experiences not normally
found in a classroom, such as “Business Etiquette” or “Dress for
Success” seminars, opportunities to network with business leaders,
and on-site academic advising. The College recently partnered
with the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center to add Improv Night to the
roster of perks.

|
“People may not
associate improv with business, but Improv Night helps foster a
well-rounded business skillset in a fun, casual way,” said Forsthe,
explaining that students get to know each other quickly with their
first improv session scheduled with a week of their move to campus.
“Through a fun program, these residents and business students will
learn to think on their feet, gain public speaking experience and
learn a key business lesson when they realize the best improv
players are those who make everyone look good.” |

Move-in day is
August 22 and thanks to the members of Delta Sigma Pi, these news
Bulls will have a bit of extra help that day. The business
fraternity members plan to greet the incoming freshman and their
families at the residence hall and will have extra arms, legs, and
energy available to help the newest business students move into the
hall. These new residents will also spend time with the Dean’s
Executive Advisory Council members during the council’s September
meeting.
