As a strategy scholar, Mike seeks to understand the influence of cognitive, communal, and reputational mechanisms on the social, environmental, and economic decisions that managers make and the outcomes for firms, industries, and stakeholders over time. Mike holds a Ph.D. and M. Phil. in strategic management from NYU’s Stern School of Business (Beta Gamma Sigma), an M.B.A. from Webster University (Distinguished Graduate), and a B.S. in Business Administration (Banking & Finance; Economics) from the University of Missouri (McNair Scholar). His research has been published in leading academic journals, and he has been honored with COBA’s Outstanding Research Achievement Award.Mike has been recognized for his outstanding teaching both at NYU and at USF, where he was selected for the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award. Mike also provides strong service to the academic and local communities. He has served as a journal guest editor and is a frequent journal and conference reviewer as well as conference session discussant and chair. He has been honored by the Academy of Management’s BPS Division with the Outstanding Reviewer Award. He is an elected and active member of USF’s Faculty Senate. For his community service, Mike has been awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the NYU President’s Service Award for Volunteerism and Community Service. Mike’s management experience is as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force. He is a Distinguished Graduate of Officer Training School, where he was selected as Squadron Commander. On active duty, he served as Squadron Section Commander and Executive Officer at McConnell AFB. During his active duty, he also completed the Wichita Police Department’s police academy and volunteered as a commissioned reserve police officer for the city, as well as completed his M.B.A. As an undergraduate, Mike participated in the International Student Exchange Program, spending a year at the University of Plymouth (England), served as a resident assistant, and worked in the Investigations / Plainclothes Unit at the University of Missouri Police Department.
