My research interests focus on the creative design and rigorous evaluation of innovative artifacts for the development and management of effective information systems. I employ the research paradigm of design science in most of my research projects. Original research contributions have been achieved in the fields of software engineering, information systems development, and database systems. The overarching goal of my research is to bring rigorous theory into effective practice. A significant number of my research contributions have been implemented and evaluated in business and industrial information systems.
My research portfolio includes the following topics. A brief description of each topic and a selected set of publications are provided by clicking on the individual topic titles.
