The Department of Finance at the University of South Florida has 12 full-time faculty members on the Tampa campus and four faculty members on the regional campuses in Lakeland and Sarasota. Most faculty members are research active, conducting research in a number of areas, including banking, corporate finance, empirical asset pricing, international finance, investments, and real estate. Faculty members have recently published in the top, internationally recognized, general journals in finance, which include the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Business, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Their research also appears in many other prestigious journals, ranging from those covering specialized areas, such as banking (Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Money Credit, and Banking), international business (Journal of International Business Studies), international finance (Journal of International Money and Finance), market microstructure (Journal of Financial Markets), and real estate (Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, and Real Estate Economics), to those with a broader appeal, such as Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Management Science, and others.

The department has placed its doctoral students in several institutions, including Bentley College, College of Charleston, Emporia State University, Louisiana Tech University, SUNY Oswego, and others. Graduates of the Department have publications or forthcoming articles in Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Research, and other journals.
